Zahirah holds a Master Degree in Special education. She has eighteen years of experience working with preschool teachers, young children (mainstream as well as those with diverse needs) and their families. Besides being passionate about integrating children with unique needs in the mainstream setting, she strongly believes that interesting hands-on activities based on children’s interests will bring out the best in every child regardless their abilities and learning styles.
Even though Zahirah established her main career in the Early Childhood industry, she has not lost her deep passion for the arts and keeps herself involved in a variety of arts projects whenever time permits. Zahirah’s keen interest in drama was developed during her school days when she involved herself in numerous stage performances. From there, her passion for drama grew and over the years, she has performed in various community stage performances for adults and children.
Zahirah strongly believes in the benefits of the arts and working with children has provided her with numerous opportunities to incorporate her knowledge about drama and role play into the various activities she carries out with the children. She also enrolled in a speech and drama training conducted by the British Council which provided her with a sound knowledge and showed her ways to present creatively, particularly in teaching drama to children where lessons become more child directed while the drama teacher takes the role of a facilitator.
