“Our mission is to reach out to the many children who are not given the opportunity to have an arts education that is crucial to children’s holistic development. We are committed to ensuring that all children are inspired by the arts.

Our goals is to enrich the lives of young people (aged 2 to 6 years) who are underprivileged by providing quality arts education to these children, supporting the notion of “No child left behind” act. We strongly believe that the arts have the power to shape lives, provide inspiration and awaken talent. Hence the arts should be a part of the children’s lives and they should not be an optional extra or seen as an exercise in elitism. On the contrary, it expands the social space for the individual and the community.” .

Being a company with a strong social mission, ‘Connecting Hearts Through Arts’ started as a heartfelt cause in 2011 to bring young people ages 3 – 6 years from underprivileged families (mainly low-income and single-parent families) together to engage in authentic meaningful arts experiences that promotes creative exploration, collaborative learning, and inspiration for the imagination.

Our aim is to transform the lives of these children and develop their critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills, helping them to achieve a more humanistic experience in relation to socio-emotional issues and circumstances in their daily lives through our Storybook Theatre drama workshops and interactive educational theatre performances.

Connecting Hearts though Arts is a community project that relies on monetary contribution and heart-felt support from like-minded people and organizations to enable us to make a difference in the lives of young people. Donations and support will allow us to continue to deliver arts education programmes and educational theatre shows to the children. Through our collaboration with various charities and voluntary welfare organizations (VWO) over the years, this project has benefited more than 1200 children from Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home, Presbyterian Community Service, The Salvation Army, Child at Street 11, Care Corner Childcare Centres, Touch Community, ABC Children’s Place and others.

In order for us to continue with our outreach to work with these less privileged children, we need to raise funds so that we can do what we do best – i.e. using drama and theatre-in-education to help them make sense of the world, of themselves and of others. We believe that children inhabit the world as fully as adults do – and our task as educators is to create opportunities which will enable them to interact with that world and to understand it more fully through their interaction so they may function more successfully in it.

We are confident that through arts, children can be equipped with the right skills, dispositions and values to prepare them for the 21st century challenges that cannot be achieved solely through academic teaching in the classroom. We are passionate about giving young people a good head start towards a balanced and holistic education.
