The Covid-19 crisis has challenged us to be creative and think out of the box when TLC’s drama educators were not allowed to engage the children directly in their classrooms. As such, TLC started to plan for ‘live stream’/online classes and identified ZOOM to be the most effective platform for maximum engagement between teachers and students via distance. However, the recent hacking of Zoom’s cyber platform has made us aware of their security lapses and it forced Zoom to step up and tighten its security. We want to assure you that we are continuously taking precautionary steps to ensure that our Zoom application is up to date with their latest security enhancements, and have implemented additional recommended measures by Zoom for added privacy and security.
This past week, TLC’s faculty came together to create this short video clip called “TLC and the Curse of the Coronavirus”! Dedicated to our young friends in our partner preschools. Covid-19 has kept us apart from doing the things we love – playing with children, engaging their sense of wonder, developing their imagination and critical thinking, and helping them to appreciate themselves, their community and the world they live in. The humanistic nature of Drama makes it a challenge to not have physical contact (space) to do all the above with children. Though less than ideal, we recognise the power that technology provides to allow us to do what we do best, and the need to rise up to the demands in our changing world. We hope you will enjoy this clip. In late April, TLC will be launching a new program. Follow us on Facebook when we start our very own TLC Pop Up Classes!
